Leading sports publication AS has reported that Brighton & Hove Albion's head coach, Italian expert Roberto De Zerbi, is under consideration to take over the reins at Barcelona.
The Blaugranas' management allegedly met with representatives of De Zerbi, 44, who currently manages the Seagulls. De Zerbi is said to be the frontrunner for the coaching job at Barcelona, but his €10 million release clause in his Brighton contract could pose a hurdle.
Javier Hernandez (Xavi), Barcelona's current head coach, announced his departure from the club by the end of the 2023/2024 season in January 2023. Barcelona is currently placed third in La Liga after completing 24 rounds with 51 points.
De Zerbi has prior coaching experience at Foggia, Palermo, Benevento, Sassuolo in Italy, and also at Shakhtar in Ukraine. He took over the helm at Brighton in September 2022.
