Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is considering moving central defender Eder Militao to the right-back position after Dani Carvajal suffered a serious injury that could sideline him for about 12 months, according to The Athletic.
Ancelotti hoped to reinforce the right-back position during the winter transfer window, but if that doesn't happen, he plans to employ Militao and Lucas Vazquez for the role. It was previously reported that Real Madrid is not actively seeking a replacement for Carvajal, as they have full confidence in Vazquez.
Militao has experience playing as a right-back, having performed in that position for both São Paulo and Porto, and he has also played a few times on the right side of defense for Real Madrid. Carvajal's injury happened towards the end of a match against Villarreal (2-0). He fell on the pitch and cried out in pain following a collision with Yeremi Pino. The Spanish player was unable to leave the field by himself.
Militao is not expected to return to action until at least October next year.
