Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has set a unique achievement in the UEFA Champions League after beating Manchester City in a two-legged clash.

The Italian specialist became the first coach to knock Josep Guardiola's teams out of the European tournament three times. It should be noted that this achievement has never been accomplished before by any coach in modern football.

Recall, the first match between the teams ended with a score of 3:3. The main time of the return match ended with the score 1:1. In extra time, the rivals also did not determine the strongest. The winner of the confrontation was decided in a penalty shootout, where Real Madrid players were more precise - 4:3.

Ancelotti beat Guardiola for the first time in 2014, when Real Madrid was stronger than Bayern Munich in the semifinals of the tournament (1:0, 4:0). The Italian outplayed the Spaniard for the second time in 2022. Then Ancelotti beat the Citizens of Guardiola with los Blancos again (3:4, 3:1) and reached the final of the tournament.

The opponent of Ancelotti's team in the fight to get to the final is Bayern Munich, who defeated Arsenal London in the quarter finals.

Earlier, Ancelotti became the first coach to play 200 matches in the Champions League.
