Former England's Manchester City and Argentina forward Sergio Agüero has spoken out about the possibility of Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi returning to Barcelona after his career is over.
AS quotes Agüero as saying:
Leo always said he loves Barcelona. Will he return to the club after his career is over? I think it's a matter of time.
Recall, Messi is a graduate of La Masia and he played in the Blaugrana from 2003 to 2021. In total, the Argentine played for Barcelona 835 matches in all tournaments, scoring 709 goals, winning ten league titles, four Champions League victories and three UEFA Super Cups. In the summer of 2021, the forward did not renew his contract with Barça due to the club's difficult financial situation.
This season, the 36-year-old Argentine is playing for Inter Miami, his contract with the club runs until December 31, 2025. In the current season, Messi has scored 11 goals and made five assists in 14 meetings in all tournaments.
Earlier, co-owner of Inter Miami David Beckham spoke about Messi's future at the American club, and the Argentine said he does not know for how long he will keep playing football.
