AC Milan and Italy national team defender Alessandro Florenzi will not be punished for illegal betting, as reported by Milan News website with reference to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

According to the source, 32-year-old Florenzi, when questioned by the prosecutor's office in Turin, assured that he did not bet on football matches, while betting on other games, including roulette. In terms of Italian criminal law, the footballer faces only a fine for illegal betting.

On November 16, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the player could receive a lengthy disqualification for betting on illegal sites.

In the season-2023/2024 Florenzi played for Milan in ten Italian league matches and three Champions League games, where he did not score. The Italian's contract with Milan expires at the end of June 2025, and his cost, according to Transfermarkt, is €2 million.

Earlier, two Italian players were punished for illegal betting in the form of long-term suspension: Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli was disqualified for seven months, and Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali received a ten-month ban.
