Analysts from the Opta Sports Telegram channel reported that more own goals were scored in the last two European Football Championships than in the entire history of the tournament.
Prior to Euro 2020, no tournament had seen more than three own goals. In 2020, a total of 11 own goals were scored in total. In the current Euro 2024, seven own goals have been recorded during the group stage alone.
This means that in the last two European Championships, two-thirds of the total own goals in the tournament's history have been scored - 18 out of 27.
