Max Verstappen, the Dutch driver for Red Bull Racing, deemed the 20-second penalty he received at the Mexican Grand Prix to be excessive. In the race held in Mexico City, Verstappen finished in sixth place.

During the race, he was handed two 10-second penalties for unsportsmanlike behavior while battling McLaren driver Lando Norris.

Verstappen commented, as reported by autosport.com:

Can the rules be better? Maybe yes, maybe not. It's always the same thing. I mean, I just drive how I think I have to drive.

He also mentioned that he still leads the championship standings by a margin of 47 points and hopes to remain competitive in the remaining races.

In the championship standings, Verstappen has gained 362 points, while Norris trails with 315 points. There are four races left in the season.

Previously, Norris voiced his complaints about Verstappen in an interview with the BBC.
