On Monday, July 29, the owners and executives of the Red Bull Formula 1 team held a meeting to discuss their ongoing collaboration with Sergio Perez.
As reported by De Telegraaf, the championship-winning team has chosen to keep the Mexican driver at least until the end of the current season, despite his underwhelming performance.
According to the publication, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said:
Checo remains a Red Bull Racing driver, despite all the speculation of late. We look forward to seeing him perform on circuits where he has done well before.
Recall that earlier this spring, Perez extended his contract until 2026. However, insiders have reported that before the summer break in F1, he did not meet two conditions that would guarantee him a spot on the team: he fell behind teammate Max Verstappen by more than 100 points and five places in the championship standings.
