Charles Leclerc secured an unexpected win for Ferrari at the Italian Grand Prix, despite McLaren drivers starting from the front row. Leclerc managed to overtake Lando Norris on the opening lap, positioning himself to adopt a successful one-stop strategy as Oscar Piastri took an early lead.
However, Leclerc voiced concerns about future races, referencing a string of difficult performances after their earlier win in Monaco:
We went through three or four of the worst races of the season, just because we were trying to understand what was going on in our car. So, hopefully, we don’t go through three or four very difficult races from now on, and I don’t think it will be the case.
Charles Leclerc
Leclerc's performance allowed him to maintain his lead, finishing ahead of the McLaren duo. This victory marked Leclerc’s second of the season and Ferrari’s third in 2024, with the team narrowing the gap to defending champions Red Bull in the constructors’ standings.
As of now, Leclerc sits third in the drivers' championship, with Ferrari in the same position in the constructors’ standings.
