Spanish racer, two-time Formula 1 world champion in 2005 and 2006 Fernando Alonso commented on the signing of a new agreement with Aston Martin F1 Team.
The fact that 42-year-old Alonso signed a new contract with the team was officially announced on April 11.
The agreement with the titled racer is valid until the end of 2026 calendar year.
There has been much said and written about my future in Formula One in the past few months, but today I'm delighted to announce that I'm here to stay with Aston Martin Aramco in a multi-year agreement. This is only the beginning for this project and I am proud to be part of it. I am at my physical best and still hungry. I will give my all as we continue our journey to becoming a world championship winning team.

In the current season, the Spaniard gained 24 points over four stages of F-1, not once finishing in the top three, and settled in eighth place in the individual standings. Reigning world champion, Dutch pilot of the Red Bull Racing team Max Verstappen (77 points) holds the lead.
As previously reported, Alonso's managers are negotiating with the bosses of the champion team about the transfer of Alonso. According to media reports, the Aston Martin pilot could replace Mexican pilot Sergio Perez, whose agreement expires at the end of the season-2024. Verstappen, commenting on this news, has expressed his confusion about the possible invitation of the veteran driver.
