Spanish racing driver Carlos Sainz Jr., who currently competes for Scuderia Ferrari HP in Formula 1, will take the wheel of a Williams Racing car for the first time in December 2024 at a test session in Abu Dhabi.
According to a statement from the Italian team, the 30-year-old Sainz, whose contract with Ferrari expires at the end of the season, will join the British team in 2025. He will be partnering with Thai driver Alexander Albon.
On July 29, Williams announced that Sainz will replace American driver Logan Sargeant for the 2025 season and will sign a two-year contract with an option for extension. Meanwhile, Lando Norris from McLaren F1 Team suggested in an interview on August 1 that Sainz would be a good fit for Oracle Red Bull Racing.
As of now, after 21 races in the 2024 season, Sainz has gained 244 points, placing him fifth in the personal standings.
