Olympic silver medalist Kenny Bednarek says winning the Diamond Trophy in Brussels has fueled his hunger for next season, and believes it will spur him to run faster and better.

Bednarek clinched the Trophy in the men’s 200m after edging out Botswana’s sprint sensation Letsile Tebogo in a re-match of their epic duel in Paris, where Tebogo came out tops.

Bednarek clocked 19.67 to win the race, ahead of Tebogo who timed 19.80, putting an end to his five-race winning run.

I really feel delighted to close down the season in this way, with a Diamond Trophy win. Looking at how the season has gone, including a silver from Paris, this was a perfect end for me. It gives me a lot of confidence, motivation and hunger for next season and I am looking forward to doing better.

Bednarek said, speaking to Telecomasia.net after the race in Brussels

The 25-year-old endured a tough spell last season, battling with injury, and having come off that spell to complete a successful year, he believes the best is yet to come.
