F1 expert Danica Patrick has called for a suitable environment and usage of viable cars to accelerate the growth of F1 in the USA. As per reports, American Indy Car driver Colton Herta can move to F1 resulting in US’s representation in Formula One. With the USA Grand Prix round the corner, Patrick has said that the local fans are going to cheer for a USA native to bolster the popularity of F1, but that the governing bodies will also have to assure building better cars for people to get behind a driver.
If it's really going to start gaining and continuing to gain traction in the States the fans here are going to need someone to cheer for. And while definitely there are cool personalities in Formula One right now, it means a little bit more when they're local or home. I say this about racing too compared to other sports -- when you live in a city, you live in Indianapolis and you cheer for the Colts, there's a reason to cheer for a team. In racing there's not a reason to cheer for a driver.
