Perth Scorchers beat Adelaide Strikers by 12 runs to clinch their maiden WBBL title. Scorchers lined up 146 runs after batting first and then restricted Strikers to a mere 134.

Kapp with the bat!

Marizanne Kapp who had an off-time with the bat all season long came up with her most important WBBL performance. Her team had scored 75 for 3 in 11.3 Overs when she came to bat. Marizanne formed a 41 runs partnership with Heather Graham and after Graham and Carmicheal fell, Alana King came to the pitch. Alana King smoked three boundaries and nailed 14 runs in five balls. For Strikes, Megan Schutt shined with the ball, giving 19 runs in her four overs for a wicket.

Kapp with the ball!

Kapp has had a wonderful tournament with the ball and she is one of the best new-ball operators in the limited-overs format. Marizanne bowled a maiden early and put the pressure on the Strikers’ chase. Adelaide lost key wickets and also couldn’t capitalize during key moments. However, it wasn’t Kapp alone who kept the lid on the Adelaide chase, Taneala Peschel and Alana King both bowled beautifully to keep things tight in the middle overs with King bowling two crucial overs towards the end.

For Strikers, allrounder Tahlia McGrath made 36 in 29 balls and Bridget Patterson made 17 runs in 11 balls, trying to scythe through the case before falling to Kapp. Madelina Penna made 30 off 21 balls but couldn’t get the job done with the required rate getting troublesome with each over. King gave just 24 runs in her four overs while Peschel took two wickets for just 23 runs in her four. Kapp finished with 25 runs in her four while Heather Graham took two wickets for 30 runs

Final honors

Scorchers got honored as the champions of the WBBL. Marizanne Kapp was named the Player of the Match for her all-around performance. Meanwhile, Melbourne Renegades’ superstar Harmanpreet Kaur won the Player of the Tournament for making 406 runs and claiming 15 wickets in the tournament.
