Bad light and a substantial rearguard at the back-end of the innings by Ajaz Patel and Rachin Ravindra ensured that the New Zealand-India Test match ends up in a draw. New Zealand opened the day at 4/1 and a daunting 76 runs stand between William Somerville and Tom Latham gave New Zealand a golden chance to draw.
Once Somerville fell, Kane Williamson and Tom Latham ate away at 19 overs or so but then after Latham fell, Indian spinners feasted upon the middle order. Blundell, Taylor, and Nicholls fell quickly and the wicket of Williamson also ensured that New Zealand had plenty of work to do. After the wickets of Southee and Jamieson, Rachin Ravindra remained firm and with Ajaz Patel eked out a draw for his side.
