The President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Sulaiman has commented on a potential fight between Anthony Joshua and the winner of the Alexander Usyk vs Tyson Fury clash.

On March 9 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Joshua defeated Francis Ngannou by knockout in the second round.

The WBC was presented a sanction request which was to fight for the undisputed. The WBC accepted that sanctioning and we accepted the rematch they have requested. But, if it is not anything to do with contractual or promotion, we would absolutely accept the winner to fight Joshua.

As a reminder, Usyk and Fury will face off on May 18 in Riyadh for the undisputed heavyweight world championship title.

The 37-year-old Usyk last fought in August 2023, defeating Daniel Dubois by knockout in the ninth round. He boasts 21 wins (14 by knockout) with no losses.

The 35-year-old Fury's last fight was against Francis Ngannou in October 2023. In that clash, Tyson secured a victory by a split decision from the judges. He holds a record of 34 wins (24 by knockout), one draw, and no losses.
