Amanda Serrano, 35, of Puerto Rico, the undisputed featherweight world champion, has relinquished her World Boxing Council (WBC) title.

Serrano made this move because the organization was unwilling to allow her to hold fights of 12 rounds of three minutes. It should be noted that most women's fights are held within the format of ten rounds of two minutes each.

I am the first undisputed female champion to fight 12x3 minute rounds. Moving forward if a sanctioning body doesn’t want to give me and my fellow fighters the choice to fight the same as the men, then I will not be fighting for that sanctioning body.

In her last fight, which took place in October 2023, Serrano defeated Brazilian Danila Ramos by unanimous decision from the judges.

Serrano made her professional ring debut in March 2009, defeating American Jackie Trivilino by majority decision. She has 46 wins (30 by knockout), two losses and one draw on her record.
