British boxer John Ryder spoke about the injury he suffered during his fight against Mexican Saul "Canelo" Álvarez, the undisputed super middleweight world champion.
Recall that Ryder and Canelo met in the ring on May 7 in Mexico. This confrontation lasted the whole distance and ended in favor of Álvarez by a unanimous decision of the judges.
After all these years of boxing, it’s the first time I broke my nose. It was a new experience. Got back to my corner, towel in my face, just couldn’t breathe. There was blood going back down my throat,

"He was very good. I still think he’s probably past his best, but he still had enough in his tank tonight. Why do I think so? He couldn’t get me out of there. His plan was to stop me – he didn’t. I know I took a great shot in the fifth round, but come back swinging and probably had some good rounds after that," said Ryder.
Ryder was in the ring in November 2022 against Zach Parker in London. In that confrontation, John had an early victory. He has 32 wins (18 by knockout) and six losses. Álvarez has 59 wins (39 by KO), two losses and two draws.
