American professional boxer Ryan Garcia has shared his future plans after defeating his compatriot Devin Haney at a tournament in Brooklyn, USA.
On April 21, Garcia won by majority decision, but as he failed to meet the super lightweight limit, the WBC championship belt remained with Haney.
Garcia said at the press conference:
I had a vision to fight Fundora at 154 [pounds]. I don't know why, I just feel like I could know him out. I know that's really, really random. But I just feel like I could get a title at 154. I've fought guys that big before and I've knocked them out in sparring, cold, slept them.
Garcia, 25, had his previous fight in December 2023, defeating Oscar Duarte Jurado by knockout in the eighth round. He has 25 wins (20 by knockout) and one loss on his record.
Sebastian Fundora, 26, defeated Tim Tszyu by split decision in March 2024 to win the WBO and WBC light middleweight titles. He has 21 wins (13 by knockout), one loss and one draw on his record.
