The American company Premier Boxing Champions is ready to pay the undisputed world champion in the super middleweight division Saul "Canelo" Alvarez more for a fight with Jaime Munguia than for a bout with Jermall Charlo.
According to ESPN KNOCKOUT, the company is promising Alvarez a guaranteed purse of $35 million for a fight with Munguia. With Premier Boxing Champions expecting to lose money on the Charlo fight, Canelo will also make less money. Sources indicate that Saul is adamant about not fighting his countryman.
Recall that Canelo signed a three-fight deal with PBC last year. It was previously announced that the Charlo vs. Alvarez fight will take place on March 4 in Las Vegas, USA.
Alvarez's last fight was against John Ryder in May 2023, where he secured a unanimous decision victory. He holds a record of 59 wins (39 by knockout), two losses, and two draws.
Charlo last stepped into the ring in November 2023, defeating Jose Benavidez by unanimous decision. He boasts 33 wins (22 by knockout) with no losses.
