WBC junior welterweight champion Devin Haney has spoken out about undisputed world champion Saul Alvarez's reluctance to fight David Benavidez.

I’m not gonna say that he’s ducking him, because we see Canelo’s resume. I can’t say he’s ducking anybody. But is he in a rush to get in the ring with him? I don’t think so. He said that he wants 150 million or whatever the case may be. But Samson also said that that’s a realistic thing. So we can’t say he’s ducking them. He has easier fights, but he has an exceptional resume. I think this fight just has to make sense, he wants $150 million or so and Benavides' promoter has said it's realistic. Benavides is one of the best in the sport right now. I really like him. And I'd like to see him fight Canelo.

Recall, on 5 May in Las Vegas (USA) Saul Alvarez will fight against his compatriot Jaime Munguia.

The 33-year-old Alvarez last entered the ring against Jermell Charlo in September 2023 in Las Vegas. In that fight, Saul won by unanimous decision of the judges. He has 60 wins (39 by knockout), two losses and two draws.

Munguia, 27, last fought against John Ryder in January 2024 in Phoenix. That fight, which was stopped in the ninth round, ended in Jaime's favour by technical knockout. He has 43 wins (34 by knockout) and no losses on his record.
