WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury responded to Egis Klimas, manager of WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk. Earlier, the manager had called him a coward.
Recall that Usyk and Fury were originally scheduled to fight on February 17 in Saudi Arabia. But earlier Tyson received a cut during training and withdrew from the fight.
Now the fight for the title of absolute champion in heavyweight between the boxers will be held on May 18.
During a joint broadcast with Klimas and Usyk on the MMAFightingonSBN YouTube channel, Fury said:
Never call me a coward again. I've had 35 professional fights and been boxing 18 years of my life. I've climbed off the canvas 10 times against some of the biggest punchers in history to win. Never a coward. Never backed down from any man in my life. And if any man calls my wife a bitch, I'll take his f***ing teeth out. You've never boxed in your life.
Fury last fought against Francis Ngannou in October 2023. In that fight, Tyson won by split decision of the judges. He has 34 wins (24 by knockout), one draw and no losses on his record.
Usyk was last in the ring against Daniel Dubois in August 2023. Oleksandr won that fight by knockout in the ninth round. He has 21 wins (14 by knockout) without a single defeat.
