WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury evaded the question of whether his fight with WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk will take place in December.
It was previously announced that Usyk and Fury had signed a contract for the fight, but there was no official announcement of the date and place of the meeting. Tyson defeated Francis Ngannou on October 28 in Saudi Arabia by split judges' decision. After the fight, event host Josh Denzel asked Fury if the fight with Usyk would take place on December 23.
After the fight with Ngannou, Fury said:
I've been in training camp now for 12 weeks. I put a long, tough, hard camping. I'm gonna go home, take a long, hard rest and uh. We'll see what happens.
Usyk's last fight was against Daniel Dubois in August this year. In this confrontation, Oleksandr won by knockout in the ninth round. He has 21 wins (14 by knockout) and no defeats on his record. Fury has 34 wins (24 by knockout), one draw and no defeats.
Fury in December 2022 entered the ring against British athlete Derek Chisora. In this confrontation, Tyson won by technical knockout in the tenth round.
Fury had a bout against Dillian Whyte in April 2022. This fight, which was stopped in the sixth round, ended in favor of Tyson by technical knockout.
