Former WBA and IBF world light-welterweight champion British boxer Amir Khan has been disqualified for two years for violating anti-doping rules.
As reported on the website of the UK Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD), Khan's doping sample, taken in February 2022 before the fight with Kell Brook, was found to contain the banned substance ostarine. Khan accepted the charges, but managed to convince the commission that the intake of ostarine was not intentional. The two-year ban starts from April 6, 2022.
Khan, 36, last stepped into the ring in February 2022, losing to Kell Brook by TKO in the sixth round. In July 2019, he defeated Billy Dib by TKO in the fourth round.
Khan made his professional ring debut against Martin Kristjansen in April 2008. That fight ended with a TKO in the seventh round. Khan has 34 wins (21 by KO) and six losses.
