Former WBO female featherweight champion Heather Hardy announced that she will be forced to end her sports career due to brain injuries.

My fight for May 1f is off. After my fight last summer, my vision remained blurred for a few days. I went for an MRI and to get my eyes checked and it was diagnosed the after effects of a concussion. 6-8 months I should be fine. So basically I needed a fight, and it never got better. I was down to 123 pounds because I couldn’t eat, I wasn’t sleeping, I was so weak. I thought I could make it through the 10-minute fight, but after a very light sparring session, I couldn’t see sh*t for two days. After finally seeing a doctor, he said I’ve had too many concussions. In 10 years, I’ve had too much brain damage. I can’t get anymore, or else I won’t be able to see.

Hardy's last fight was against Amanda Serrano in August 2023. In that bout, which went the distance, Heather suffered a unanimous decision loss. Hardy has 24 wins (four by knockout) and three losses to her name.
