WBC super lightweight champion, American boxer Devin Haney commented on his defeat to his compatriot Ryan Garcia.
On 21 April in Brooklyn (USA), Haney was defeated by majority decision of the judges (112-112, 114-110, 115-109). It should be noted that Devin retained his WBC title as Garcia failed to meet the weight class limit.
Haney said in a post-match interview:
I'm disappointed with my performance, but I showed that I can fight after a knockdown and getting hurt. I fell asleep on the left hook. He didn't make weight, so I'm still the champion. We can run it back.
The 25-year-old Haney previously stepped into the ring in December 2023, defeating Regis Prograis by unanimous decision. He has 31 wins (15 by knockout) and one loss on his record.
Garcia, 25, had his previous fight in December 2023, defeating Oscar Duarte Jurado by knockout in the eighth round. He has 25 wins (20 by knockout) and one loss.
