Austin Trout, former WBA light middleweight champion and current BKFC welterweight champion, has proposed a rematch to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, undisputed super middleweight world champion.
Trout stated, as reported by Boxing News:
All of them, everybody I took a loss to I want to fight in the bare-knuckle ring. That means Canelo, [Jermall] Charlo, [Erislandy] Lara, the other Charlo (Jermell), [Jarret] Hurd, every one of those cats I would love to fight in the bare-knuckle ring, it’s different… Canelo if you want that rematch, let’s run it or anyone else that has a high-profile name.
For context, on September 15, Canelo Alvarez won a unanimous decision against Edgar Berlanga at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with scores of 117-110 and 118-109 twice. Alvarez last fought in May 2024, where he also secured a unanimous decision victory against Jaime Munguia. He has a record of 62 wins (39 by knockout), 2 losses, and 2 draws.
Berlanga, prior to fighting Alvarez, was last in the ring in February 2024, where he won by knockout in the sixth round against Padraig McCrory, bringing his record to 22 wins (17 by knockout) and 1 loss.
