Vadim Kornilov, the manager of Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol, announced that Bivol’s team has requested a rematch against compatriot Artur Beterbiev.
The Ring quotes Kornilov as saying:
We have formally requested a rematch and are contesting the decision with all sanctioning bodies. We are also working on the possibility of appealing the judges’ scorecards, that rated the fight 116-112.
Beterbiev and Bivol faced each other in the ring on October 12 in Saudi Arabia. Their match headlined a boxing event in Riyadh, where Beterbiev won by unanimous decision, claiming the title of undisputed world champion in the light heavyweight division. This was the first fight where Beterbiev did not secure a knockout victory, and Bivol's first professional loss.
Beterbiev holds a professional boxing record of 21 wins (20 by knockout) and no losses, while Bivol has 23 wins (12 by knockout) and one loss.
