National Basketball Association (NBA) club Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN, is ready to offer its leader, forward LeBron James a new contract for three years.

The labor agreement will pay the league veteran's salary of approximately $160 million. James, 39, has time to consider whether to use his already signed contract for the 2024/2025 season with a $54.1 million payout or become a free agent.

In the 2023/2024 season, James played in 65 NBA games where he averaged 25.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.1 fouls per game. The Lakers finished eighth in the Western Conference regular season (82 points in 82 games), ending the season in the first round of the playoffs, losing the series to the Denver Nuggets 1-4.

On April 1, James said in an interview with Bleaching Report that he would not be able to play another 21 seasons in the NBA, but could not say exactly when he would make the decision to end his basketball career.

"King James" is a four-time NBA champion (2012, 2013, 2016, 2020) and two-time Olympic gold medalist (2008, 2012).
