In a piece of heartbreaking news, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka is going to miss the Indian Wells BNP Paribas Open because of contracting coronavirus. WTA’s second-ranked Sabalenka got slated as the first seed since the first ranked player Ashleigh Barty dropped out of the tournament earlier.

Sabalenka last played in the Semi-Finals of the US Open before being ousted by Leylah Fernandez. The tournament will begin tomorrow and will continue till the seventeenth of October.

Unfortunately I've tested positive at Indian Wells and won't be able to compete. I've started my isolation and I'll be staying here until I'm cleared by the doctors and health officials. So far I'm feeling OK but really sad to not be able to play this year.
