The AfroBasket saw back-to-back thriller as first Central African Republic edged out Guinea 61-60 and in the next game, Congo DR defeated Cape Verde 70-66. Guinea and the Central African Republic had a thriller from the beginning as the Central African Republic led by one. The game remained close till the last seconds and Jimmy Djimrabaye sealed the deal with a layup off Max Kouguere’s pass with 8 seconds to go. Max and Jimmy both scored 16 points in the game for the Central African Republic.
Congo DR and Cape Verde also had just a one point differential leading to half-time. However, in the third quarter Congo DR outscored Cape Verde 21-13. In the fourth quarter, Cape Verde made a brief late run but fell short playing catch-up at that point. For Congo, Henry Pwono clinched 19 points and 9 rebounds while Joel Almeida for Cape Verde notched 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.
