Junior dos Santos is a former UFC heavyweight champion renowned for striking stoke-in-trade. On joining UFC from the MMA circuits in Brazil, dos Santos earned himself a “knockout of the year” award on his debut against Fabricio Werdum at UFC 90. He went on to win his first nine fights in the promotion.
Dos Santos fought everybody in the promotion and became the UFC heavyweight champion in 2011 when he defeated Cain Velasquez at UFC on Fox 1 in 2011. He later lost the title to Velasquez in a rematch in 2012. Dos Santos has fought all the big guns in the heavyweight division, including losing his bout to current champion Francis Ngannou in 2019 at UFC on ESPN 3 via technical knockout.
After a hiatus, Cigano moved to Eagle FC and will make his promotional debut in this headline match.
Bet on Junior dos Santos vs Yorgan de Castro with 1xBetI’m very happy to be here at this point, and I’m training well. I’m feeling good, and I can’t wait, actually, to be inside the cage again and to fight.

Castro was born in Cape Verde and started training in Kickboxing when he moved to Portugal at 18. Later he transitioned to MMA and in the US starting competing in CES before being recruited by Dana White after participating in Contender Series 17. After a short career in the UFC that was blighted by the Covid-19 pandemic, Castro moved to EFC, again via CES. He has finally got his big headline match against a fighter he used to watch while growing up.
It was like ‘wow’ at first, but now that we’re getting closer someone has to pay for it. I don’t see him as an idol anymore. I’ll keep the fight outside the cage and look forward to punching him in the face.
