It’s number one ranked fighter versus number three in the UFC heavyweight division at UFC Fight Night 209 where former Interim heavyweight champion, Ciryl Gane of France goes against heavyweight power puncher Tai Tuivasa of Australia. This will be the first time that the UFC comes to France after a change in the country’s laws to legalize mixed martial fights. While Tuivasa comes into the fight on a four-match streak, Gane lost his previously undefeated status to Francis Ngannou in his last fight.

Ciryl Gane
The 32-year-old fighter turned professional in 2018. After a stint in the Canadian-based TKO Promotion, he debuted in UFC with a first-round win over Raphael Pessoa on August 2019. Coming from a Muay Thai background, the Frenchman went on a run that saw him defeat a distinguished posse of heavyweights, including Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Alexander Volkov and Derrick Lewis. The Gane train was finally stopped by the then champion, Francis Ngannou last January via unanimous decision. After a bright start in the early rounds of the contest, Gane lost momentum when Ngannou switched to wrestling to edge him out on points.
Ciryl is a great athlete. Great competitor. Really good fighter. There's gonna be a few challenges, but I think he's got a bit to worry about as well, know what I mean? I'm gonna do what Bam Bam does and come to fight, and I'm gonna bring the fire, that's for sure.

Tai Tuivasa
The first indigenous Australian to win a UFC fight, Samoan Tai Tuivasa won his UFC debut with a flying knee in the first round to knockout Rashad Coulter in 2017. This Performance of the Night outing announced him in the promotion where he has gone ahead to become a knockout specialist. The former Rugby league player has always been a power puncher devastating the opponents he encountered in the regional promotions he fought for in Australia. Tuivasa has won four Performance of the Night bonus awards in UFC and his resume includes wins over Andre Arlovski and Derrick Lewis who he knocked out in round two last February. Tuivasa’s only loss was against Sergey Spivak in October 2019 at UFC 243. He lost the fight via arm-triangle choke in the second round.
I feel like my training’s getting better, the way I approach training, the way I approach fights is getting better, just all round, my attitude is becoming more professional, I feel like I’m getting more comfortable with myself and the sport of MMA.
