Australian Tim Tszyu returns to the USA, the location of his first professional setback and the loss of his WBO super welterweight last time out in a clash against undefeated Russian Bakhram Murtazaliev for the IBF super welterweight title. The championship bout takes place this weekend at the Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, Florida. While Tszyu lost his title in a bloody contest earlier this year, Murtazaliev claimed the IBF strap off Jack Culcay last April. Ahead of the fight, the boxers have been exchanging verbal jabs. The Aussie, son of former Russian-Australian champion, Kostya Tszyu, lost his unbeaten status and his WBO super welterweight title in a bloody split decision against Sebastian Fundora last March. Tim Tszyu suffered a cut during the fight which observers think impaired his performance. His first pro loss also denied the Australian the vacant WBC title, which was also on the line. “The Soul Taker” has twenty-four victories, with seventeen by KO/TKO.

The Grozny-born 34-year-old stepped up late in his fight with Jack Culcay to stop his opponent and claim the IBF super welterweight title last April in Germany. Heading to the close of the eleventh round of the 12-rounder, Murtazaliev rocked Culcay with some heavy punches before dropping him with seconds to the end of the round. The win brought Bakhram Murtazaliev’s stats to sixteen knockouts from twenty-three victories.
