His professional career is as prestigious as his amateur career, which saw him compete at the 2012 London Games alongside several world championships medals. His British foe holds the Commonwealth and WBO Inter-Continental light-heavyweight titles and is also the number one ranked WBO light heavyweight contender. Artur Beterbiev
Originally Russian, Arthur Beterbiev, who lives in Montreal, now fights under the Canadian flag. After an illustrious amateur swing that included European and world championship gold medals, Arthur made his professional debut in 2013, defeating Gabriel Lecrosnier by TKO in the fourth round. That set off an eighteen-fight run with eighteen stoppages and three light heavyweight championship titles. In November 2017, he secured the IBF belt after a 12th-round knockout of Enrico Koelling. Two years later, he knocked out then-unbeaten WBC champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk in a unification bout.
This is a matchup between two of the most devastating light heavyweight punchers, and I look forward to the great Artur Beterbiev showcasing his prodigious talent for the incredible UK fans. Anthony Yarde was ringside for Artur’s last fight, and he certainly does not lack confidence. The British power puncher had contested for a world championship title before losing to Sergey Kovalev in the eleventh round in Russia. Yarde distinguished himself in that bout, almost knocking out the champ in the eighth round. He has amassed several intercontinental and European titles and is on a three-fight winning streak, all of which he won via knockouts, including against his rival Lyndon Arthur. His last fight in November 2022 was a third-round knockout of Stefani Koykov. He has twenty-two knockouts from twenty-three wins.
January 28 will be my night. My destiny is playing out in my home city, and this is what I have longed for throughout my professional career, starting at Wembley. I won’t make any big predictions for this fight against a strong, unified champion in Artur Beterbiev, but I will say that I will leave nothing to chance, and I am at my best when I fight fire with fire.
