The phrase ‘illegal downloads' may conjure up images of pale-faced teens, but one of the most prolific copyright infringers in the US turns out to be a 92-year-old war veteran.
Hyman Strachman has sent around 4,000 boxes of bootleg DVDs to US troops stationed overseas over an eight year period. The former soldier spent up to 60 hours a week copying and shipping the Hollywood blockbusters, resulting in some troops seeing the films before they hit US cinemas.
While Strachman claims he is slowly winding up his operation because the troops are coming home, we suspect digital downloads may be eating into his business.
