Operators must move fast to maximize the momentum now behind WAC after its commercial launch on Monday, its latest member warns.
Gordon Rawling, Oracle’s EMEA marketing director, told TelecomAsia the window of opportunity for operators to compete in apps stores is closing, while discussing his firm’s WAC membership.
The firm is working on network enablement for the Community, building industry domain software aimed at opening the potential of operator-run apps stores.
Rawling said the stores offer a good opportunity for service providers but said “they must move quickly,” to cash in on that potential.
Oracle is another big win for WAC, which revealed that major carriers including China Mobile, Orange, Telefonica, Telenor, Verizon and Vodafone are among its members during its commercial launch.
The firm is keen to drive development of the WAC platform, Rawling noted, however he added that operators need to “decide what their service proposition will be.”
