Vodafone India has expanded its mobile network in the Arunachal Pradesh region, become the first private operator to offer full voice and data services in the geographically difficult to serve Dawang district.
The operator has expanded its network in 12 districts across the state, bringing its total number of cell sites in Arunachal Pradesh up to 140. Its network now covers around 460 towns and villages in the state, and more than 31% of the population.
The mountainous Tawang District is one of the most challenging terrains to set up telecom infrastructure, according to Vodafone India business head for Assam and North East Alok Verma.
“We at Vodafone India feel extremely proud to announce the expansion of our network presence a place which is 10,000 feet above sea level - Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh.” he said.
“We are now fully equipped to provide superior connectivity and services to the members of more than 10,000 households in these hitherto unconnected areas.”
In the Assam and North East telecom circle, Vodafone now has over 4,800 cell sites covering 19,000 towns and villages in seven states, and has a total subscriber base in the circle of 4.6 million.
