Vodafone India has revealed plans to expand its 4G rollout to three more telecoms circles, and has set a target of having 4G services available in 1,000 towns this year.

The operator has announced the next phase of its 4G rollout, which covers the key regions of Gujarat, Harayana, Uttar Pradesh East and West Bengal.

The first phase of Vodafone's rollout concentrated on Kerala, Kamataka, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi. Combined with the four that will be added in the next stage, the nine circles in the ensuing 4G footprint contribute just under 70% of Vodafone India's data revenues.

In order to facilitate the 4G deployment and improve existing services, Vodafone recently modernized and upgraded its entire network in India, in an upgrade the company has branded Vodafone SuperNet.

The operator said the SuperNet deployment has established several new records in terms of size and pace of deployment. These include the largest deployment of self-optimizing network (SON) technology and the deployment of HD voice and single RAN technology across the entire network.
