VMware's newly launched VMware Cloud Hybrid Services product, already available in the US, will likely be available in Asia by 2014.
Dubbed “vCHS,” the public IaaS offering touts virtual networking capabilities as being the differentiator from competing hybrid cloud offerings.
Based on the company's vCloud architecture, customers will be allowed to shift VMware-encoded workloads between VMware's hosted service and in-house.
When launched in APJ, vCHS will be a VMware-branded service that runs the entire VMware vCloud stack with support and services from VMware and its eco-system. The product will be sold through VMware channels. vCHS is expected to complement existing vCloud Powered and vCloud Datacenter Service Provider Partners portfolios.
In the ASEAN region, VMware has five vCloud Powered Partners running hybrid cloud datacenters. These five partners run the VMware stack with management and interoperability solutions on top of vSphere, meaning they are able to offer hybrid cloud solutions that integrate with customers' internal datacenters. These vCloud Powered Partners include Indonesia Cloud (Indonesia), TelkomSigma (Indonesia), JARing (Malaysia), VADS (Malaysia) and KSC Commercial Internet (Thailand).
VMware has four enterprise-class hybrid cloud partners in APJ that offer the additional benefits of guaranteed SLAs and contractual assurances for security and compliance - these are SingTel in Singapore, Optus in Australia as well as Hitachi and Softbank in Japan.
