Vitesse Semiconductor has launched what it says is the industry's first 12-port Gigabit Ethernet PHY with dual copper and fiber support.
The company said the chip boasts 50% higher density than its leading transceiver competitors.
The VSC8512 has been integrated with Vitesse's new EcoEthernet 2.0, providing energy efficiency features such as automatic link power-down and idle power saving.
It supports both the SGMII and the less-common QSGMII interfaces.
