New Zealand-based Vector Communications has selected and deployed switch-free Ethernet solutions from Accedian Networks to deliver fiber-based services to enterprises throughout Auckland.

Accedian Networks’ MetroNID units, installed directly at the customer premises, sport Ethernet service creation features enhanced by hardware-based traffic shaping, policy enforcement, switch-free aggregation and integrated monitoring capabilities, the vendor said in a statement.

Ethernet services will be managed by Accedian’s cross-functional workflow automation and element management system (EMS) that allows new services to be installed and provisioned within minutes, permitting Vector to quickly deliver and scale premium Ethernet services throughout New Zealand’s major metro region,

Vector GM Maxine Elliott said Accedian’s solutions “give us the capability to offer MEF-compliant, managed Layer 2 services with functionality not previously seen in the marketplace.”

Elliott also said Ethernet OAM standards in the solution opened up “new markets for Vector's customers, who can now seamlessly migrate legacy TDM services and mobile backhaul applications to an IP infrastructure.”
