Chinese state-backed chipmaker Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit Co has denied stealing intellectual property from rivals after being indicted in the US for allegedly conspiring to steal trade secrets from US semiconductor firm Micron Technology.
The US Justice Department issued indictments to Fujian Jinhua and three individuals associated with the company over the allegations.
The US has also imposed export restrictions on US companies working with Fujian Jinhua similar to the export ban imposed on ZTE earlier this year that forced the vendor to suspend operations until it reached a settlement agreement in July.
These actions follow the filing of a lawsuit by US rival semiconductor company Micron late last year accusing Taiwan's United Microelectronics Corporation of stealing the company's intellectual property after hiring three former Micron employees, and then passing off this information to partner Fujian Jinhua.
But Fujian Jinhua has denied the allegations and insisted that there has been no stealing of technology from other companies, the South China Morning Postreported.
In addition, Fujian Jinhua implied that the export restrictions may represent an attempt by Micron to sabotage the company because it is viewed as a threat.
