US Ethernet services poised for growth

Enterprises and consumers will spend more than $37 billion over the next five years on Ethernet services in the US alone, Insight Research has predicted.

The market is expected to grow at a CAGR of almost 25%, from $3.1 billion in 2010 to nearly $9.7 billion by 2015.

The GFC did little to spoil US enterprises' appetites for Ethernet services, the research firm said. Nevertheless the peak of the surge in demand for Ethernet services will be sparked by an improvement of the national economy by 2011.

“The momentum behind Ethernet services is being driven by the customer's steadily increasing demand for data bandwidth and Ethernet's real cost advantages in terms of... scalability,” Insight Research president Robert Rosenberg said.
