(Bangkok Post via NewsEdge) Organizations in Bangkok and Singapore are the most ready of six major Asian cities to mobilize their businesses, according to a new survey by Nokia.

The world's largest handset maker based the conclusion on research into nine indicators, ranging from mobile application adoption to company policies and IT infrastructure.

The result was a Mobility Readiness Index used to compare the rate of business mobility adoption across cities.

It said organizations in Bangalore, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai and New Delhi had the potential to drive higher adoption.

The research, conducted by the independent research house Saffron Hill, surveyed 300 key decision-makers in Bangalore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, New Delhi and Singapore.

'Asia has always been at the forefront of the mobile revolution, and organizations in this region recognize the benefits of business mobility and leveraging mobility to leapfrog for competitive advantage,' said Bob McDougall, managing director of customer and market operations for Nokia (Thailand).

Based on the study, almost nine out of 10 organizations in Thailand are currently using at least two mobile applications.

The majority of these firms allow staff to work from home, and agree on the benefits of increased employee productivity and better work/life balance through business mobility.

With high adoption readiness and flexible working environments, organizations now needed to increase their focus on security and device management, as well as preparing IT infrastructure for mobile access, said McDougall.
