Telstra Global has forged an agreement with China Telecom to expand its network connectivity in mainland China.

Through the expanded partnership deal, Telstra Global announced it has has expanded its IP-VPN network into China, through connections in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai.

In addition, Telstra Global will connect to China Telecom's CN2 converged network architecture in the nation.

Telstra Global connectivity & platforms portfolio head Bernadette Noujaim Baldwin said collaborations with domestic operators are vital to Chinese expansion.

“With the Chinese telecommunications space highly regulated, it’s crucial we optimise existing partnerships with local incumbents like China Telecom to support businesses operating in and from China’s economic hubs,” she said.

The company will provide local support to customers through Telstra offices in each of the three cities, with the co-operation of China Telecom.

Telstra Global also recently secured an operating license in Taiwan, and expanded its reach in India as well as in the US.
