Telmap has introduced a new business package that enables mobile operators to bundle local search, mapping and turn-by-turn navigation into customer subscriptions.
The service has been developed in relationship with Navteq, a global provider of maps, traffic and location data. Telmap said the deal offers significant benefits to both operators and consumers.
As location-based services and navigation are clear value adds to mobile subscribers with GPS-enabled devices, this offer presents the opportunity for mobile operators to significantly increase customer loyalty and reduce churn on all mobile tariffs by offering Telmap location-based services for free to consumers.
Usage can be driven by a broader use of the search, mapping and navigation features by a larger reach of consumers.
Mobile operators will benefit from a heavily discounted rate from Telmap for the basic local search, mapping and navigation features – making it viable to include it free to consumers in all their GPS-enabled handsets.
In addition, new revenue streams can be generated by offering consumers additional premium services such as traffic information, speed cameras, micro payments, fuel prices and city guides.
