Telekom Malaysia has entered an agreement to provide OTT video provider iflix’s service to the operator's home UniFi and Streamyx high-speed broadband customers.
The collaboration will provide Unifi and Streamyx customers access to tens of thousands of hours of TV shows and movies available on iflix at no additional cost.
TM Unifi and Streamyx customers received a 12-month iflix subscription bundled with their existing TM service, at no additional charge.
The collaboration will enable the launch of a new seamless sign-up service for TM Unifi and Streamyx customers.
The iflix system will instantly recognize if the user is on a TM Unifi or Streamyx connection, and will tag that device using proporietary technology, be it a phone, laptop, desktop or tablet, and enable iflix on that device.
TM customers will also be able to download shows to their mobile phone or tablet to watch when they aren’t connected to the internet.
Jeremy Kung, EVP for New Media at TM, said this partnership with iflix marks the telco’s first collaboration with an OTT player and the first in ASEAN for iflix.
Now available in Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, iflix will continue to roll out its service to additional Southeast Asian markets in coming months.
