Nokia Technologies loses CTO, a week after president Ramzi Haidamus quits

Nokia Technologies, the R&D/licensing arm of Nokia, has lost two top executives within two weeks.

Chief technology officer Guido Jouret has left the company to join ABB Group as chief digital officer.

Jouret, who is considered as a pioneer of IoT, joined Nokia Technologies as CTO in April 2015. He will assume his new role at ABB on October 1, and work from the power and automation technology powerhouse’s Silicon Valley and Zurich offices, according to a company statement released by ABB.

Prior to joining Nokia Technologies, Jouret was with Envision Energy, where he led the software products business. Before that he has 20 years stint at Cisco, where he most recently served as general manager of the IoT division.

Jouret’s departure comes a week after Nokia Technologies announced the resignation of its president Ramzi Haidamus.

Haidamus, who was also a member of the company's group leadership team, stepped down from his roles at Nokia Technologies from September 1.

Brad Rodrigues, currently head of strategy and business development in Nokia Technologies, will assume the role of acting president of Nokia Technologies, and the company has started the search for a permanent successor with the requisite technology, product and commercial skills.

In order to ensure a smooth transition, he will stay with the company through the end of September, and then leave to pursue new opportunities, Nokia said in the statement.

"Ramzi has created a strong foundation in Nokia Technologies," said Rajeev Suri, president and chief executive officer of Nokia.

"Under his leadership, we have grown our patent licensing business, reached an agreement with HMD global Oy to bring the Nokia brand back to mobile devices, and made excellent progress in digital media with the launch of the OZO virtual reality camera and in digital health with the acquisition of Withings.
