John Dennelind unable to assume Maxis’ CEO role
Malaysian integrated telecom operator Maxis is back searching for a new CEO, months after the company selected Johan Dennelind from Sweden for the role.

In an unexpected announcement released on Wednesday, Maxis said Dennelind, due to recent personal family circumstances which have made it necessary for him to reside closer to family in Sweden, was unable to assume the role.

“The board, having carefully considered Johan’s situation, agreed that it is in the best interest of the company to release him from his contract,” Maxis said.

Maxis will continue with its search for a CEO, the telco added.

In the same release, the company has also appointed CFO Nasution Mohammed as joint COO with effect from June 1.

Mohammed, together with current COO Suren J. Amarasekera, will lead the company.

The joint COOs will report to chairman Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad bin Raja Tun Uda.

Mohammed replaces Mark Dioguardi, who will step down as joint COO on May 31. He will continue to oversee the finance function.
